The role involves managing the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) across different sites across south east london. The successful candidate will ensure the LRC team provides a high-quality, professional service to all students and staff, fostering a productive learning environment. - Salary £30,800 to £36,207 term time only
Day to Day of the role of an LRC Director :
- Oversee the management and daily operations of the Library Services, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
- Lead the sourcing and distribution of online resources, support staff in the development of interactive electronic resources, and promote skills in information handling and research techniques.
- Ensure the LRCs meet the needs of students and staff and enhance the institution’s teaching and learning strategy.
- Supervise students in the LRC to ensure purposeful learning.
- Manage LRC Coordinators/Study Assistants to deliver outstanding service and effective deployment.
- Develop a communication strategy that promotes the use of the LRCs during term and holiday periods.
- Inform staff and students about available digital resources and library services, including remote access.
- Liaise with colleagues and external organisations to develop relevant network groups.
- Manage student groups during timetabled LRC/Directed study classes, supporting out-of-class learning.
- Manage the budget effectively, including preparation of bids for external funding.
- Act as the institution’s copyright officer and ensure compliance with licences.
- Manage the LRC borrowing systems and maintain the condition, security, and safety of the LRC.
- Promote and monitor equal opportunities and participate in staff training and development.
Required Skills & Qualifications for the Learning Resource Centre Director role:
- Degree level education.
- Relevant experience in a library or educational resource centre.
- Outstanding IT skills and proficiency in various IT systems and packages.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of the 16-19 curriculum and a commitment to supporting students’ academic and social development.
