Learning Support AssistantLocation: Secondary School, LewishamStart Date: ImmediatelyContract: Full-time, Long-Term (Until the end of the academic year)Salary: Dependent on experienceWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dynamic team at a thriving mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This is a full-time, long-term position with an immediate start, running through until the end of the academic year. The role will be pivotal in supporting students with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive in their studies.Key Responsibilities:Support students with SEND on a 1:1 or small group basis, both in and out of the classroom.Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet the needs of students.Provide academic and emotional support, helping students overcome barriers to learning.Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and school leaders.Promote an inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.Help students develop social and communication skills, working closely with other staff to promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.Key Requirements:Previous experience working with children in a school or similar setting is essential.Experience working with students with SEND is required.DBS on the Update Service is mandatory.Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students’ needs.A commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all students.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Benefits:Competitive pay based on experience.Opportunity for professional development and training.A supportive and collaborative working environment.Long-term position with the potential for further opportunities within the school.If you are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential and meet the above criteria, we would love to hear from you.
