Are you excited to work with us to develop excellent global technology-enhanced platforms that enable teaching staff and students to fulfil their potential?

Libraries encompass more than just physical spaces and collections; they are also responsible for delivering services and developing online teaching and learning systems for the University. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of global technology-enhanced teaching and learning services. You will oversee the software development life cycle for online teaching, learning, and assessment platforms, ensuring the creation of robust online learning environments that support and enhance the University’s educational offerings.

As Learning Systems Team Leader, you will manage a cross-functional team consisting of developers, testers, systems administrators, and analysts. Your team will upgrade and extend the software applications to align with the departmental and University’s strategic goals. Throughout this process, you will prioritise accessibility, security, and user experience. This role supports the broader Learning Technology Section, which aims to enable teaching staff to provide exceptional learning opportunities to students.

To excel in this position, you should have experience leading teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. You will demonstrate technical leadership and introduce industry best practices such as agile software delivery approaches, automation, and DevOps. An innovative mindset is essential, as you will contribute your skills and experiences to development projects across our systems. Additionally, you must collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to influence and shape the technological environment in line with ambitious institutional goals amidst a rapidly evolving learning technology landscape.

This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered, accommodating diverse work-life needs. Don’t hesitate to apply if you don’t meet every requirement; we understand that many individuals possess valuable skills and experiences that may not align perfectly with the listed criteria.

At our University, we value diverse backgrounds and experiences as they foster the creation of better solutions for global teaching and learning. We actively encourage applications from groups that are currently underrepresented in our team, including women and individuals from Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

As part of our employment package, we offer hybrid working arrangements that combine office and home-based work each week (currently expected to be at least two days on campus). While your base will be at the King’s Meadow campus in Nottingham, you may occasionally need to visit our other Nottingham sites. Working arrangements can be discussed during the interview process.

We are committed to supporting the well-being of our staff and provide generous benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, a substantial holiday allowance (plus additional university closure days), and an attractive pension scheme.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Nigel Owen, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
