Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer (1.0 FTE) in the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree program.Term: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026 (12 months). We work in a state-of-the-art law building—Allard Hall—designed to support teaching and research in law, and we collaborate with scholars from disciplines across the university and leaders in the legal profession in British Columbia and beyond.More information about the Allard School of Law is available at and .THE POSITIONThe Lecturer position is a teaching intensive appointment.We expect the appointment to commence July 1, 2025 with a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications. The expected salary range is $100,000 – $150,000 per annum. This position is within the UBC Faculty Association bargaining unit and is subject to the terms of the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBCFA.A JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree from an approved Canadian law school is required, and, absent exceptional circumstances, a completed doctoral degree in law or a related discipline. In addition, the successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness and experience teaching within the JD/LLB curriculum at a law school for a minimum of 2 years, including in the first-year curriculum, and a record of teaching at least two of the following courses, with preference given to candidates who can teach in all of these areas:TortsCriminal LawEvidenceLegal Research and WritingIn addition, preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated willingness and ability to teach and/or experience teaching in additional areas to those specified above.HOW TO APPLYApplicants should submit:(1) a cover letter indicating interest in the position and describing classroom teaching experience, including the areas outlined above;(2) a curriculum vitae;(3) law school transcripts;(4) the names and contact information for three individuals who have agreed to serve as a reference; and(5) evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as evaluations).Electronic applications are required and should be submitted by email to the Allard Law Appointments Committee ( ) with the word “Lecturer” in the Subject line of the email.
