Lecturer

We are looking for a new Lecturer to join our team in the new academic year. This is full time (36.5 hours per week) open-ended position which comprises research and teaching responsibilities. 

About the role

You will be expected to have a track-record or strong potential to develop a track-record of publications in high-calibre journals, and to engage in research grant capture and research outreach and dissemination activities. You will be integrated within our research groups and centres, and will benefit from a dedicated mentor. 

You will also contribute to the teaching in our Politics and International Relations suite of programmes, and to the supervision of student dissertations and provision of pastoral support to students. We are open to diverse methodological and disciplinary approaches, but alignment with some of the University’s interdisciplinary research priorities will be an advantage. These are: Digital Transformations; Health and Wellbeing; Sustainability. 

About the Department 

The Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies is a renowned multidisciplinary department with key strengths in the study of security and conflict, gender politics, nationalism, populism and radicalism, social movements, political representation, and the politics of memory. The Department hosts the Centre for the Study of Violence, and is part of the Faculty -wide Instuture of Policy Research (IPR).

The Department is committed to supporting excellence in both research and teaching. It offers undergraduate programmes in Politics and International Relations, Politics with Economics, Languages and International Politics, and Masters in International Relations, International Security, Politics and Gender, and a transnational Masters in European studies (Euromaster).
