The vision of the Department of Nursing Science is to provide high-quality education and research that supports excellence in practice to the benefit of all those who access healthcare, nationally and globally. The Department is a collegial and vibrant community of staff, practitioners, students, and service users who work in close partnership with colleagues from clinical practice and across the wider Faculty of Health and Social Science and University. We prepare nursing students in three fields of nursing at undergraduate level and two at postgraduate level, as well as delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to qualified health professionals.We are based in a new state of the art building in Bournemouth and Yeovil University Campus in Somerset. We have excellent clinical simulation and skills teaching facilities and a new library.We are committed to inter-professional and collaborative working in teaching, practice, and research across the Faculty, and this is an exceptional opportunity to join a team committed to enhancing the health and social well-being of people across Dorset and further afield.About the RoleWe have on offer a Lecturer position equivalent to 1.0 FTE. The role offers the opportunity to work across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, providing scope to develop excellence in academic practice.To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.We have strong established relationships with our NHS Trust partners, including two University NHS Trusts, and will consider fractional posts where we can establish joint posts with our Trust partners.We are known for having a solid commitment to supporting and investing in research development and its fusion with education and professional practice, committed to developing your academic career. Our University offers excellent staff development opportunities including the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and PhD/research options, with alignment to our Research Centres.About YouAs an expert in your field, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our nursing programmes. Your experience in education (from a University or clinical base) and innovation will set you aside from the rest. You will be able to demonstrate an established contribution to professional practice through engagement and leadership. Our department has a growing team of staff who combine their academic role with clinical practice, and we are keen to engage in clinical-academic development and explore the combination of fractional posts with clinical work, with your existing employer.A key attribute will be your ability to work flexibly across our undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes (pre-registration and CPD), where your insight into contemporary practice (clinical or educational), will enhance student experience and learning.You will be a highly motivated individual who brings strength in education and practice, and who is looking to develop or exercise their research expertise.
