The successful candidate will be an academic clinician who represents scholarly achievement and clinical excellence. The successful applicant should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and will be expected to work in the position description of Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality & Innovation. Effective start date is January 1, 2025 or shortly thereafter.The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network, is seeking a dynamic and compassionate clinician with an outstanding record of accomplishment in areas that include medical education, research, and quality and should have special interest and advanced training in comprehensive chronic pain management and rare connective tissue disorders. The successful candidate will spend time at the UHN Comprehensive Integrated Pain Program and rare connective tissue disease Ehlers Danlos Syndromes (EDS) program. It is expected that the position will be 50-70% clinical and 30-50% related to education, research, and/or administrative duties.The incumbent must possess excellent diagnostic/interventional skills and should have pertinent knowledge of treatment paradigms including pharmacological and ultrasound/fluoroscopic guided pain procedures. The successful candidate must have completed an advanced fellowship training in chronic pain management with at least 2 years of fellowship training at an academic centre. Additional desirable expertise includes experience and clinical/research interest in management of chronic pain conditions, including pelvic pain syndromes, and rare disorders like Ehlers Danlos Syndromes.Formal training in medical education, for example, advanced courses or graduate degree in health education related course of study, is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate achievement in teaching and education. Teaching excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly educational contributions as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the postgraduate level, teaching awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience.Preference will be given to candidates who have advanced research training (MPH, MSc, PhD or equivalent in health care research) with expertise in clinical research focusing on traditional and emerging chronic pain management therapies, as well as core domains of pain rehabilitation/research.The candidate will also coordinate medical rotations for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees as well as clinical fellows. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical care in the outpatient settings, teaching, and participation in other scholarly activities.The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English and hold an MD degree or equivalent and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).Estimated remuneration includes base support from a provincial alternative funding program plus fee-for-clinical-service income, and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
