We are ranked in the Top 50 worldwide for civil and structural engineering according to the 2021 QS World University and Subject rankings.About the roleThe appointee will join the UCL Fluid Mechanics Group which comprises of academic staff with complementary skills, PhD students, Research Fellows and Associates, visiting and honorary staff. Research topics include transport and mixing in the environment; marine hydrodynamics in coastal and offshore waters; fluvial hydraulics, wave and tidal energy devices, hydraulic structures, wave-current interaction, sediment transport and scour, wind engineering, air pollution and urban fluid mechanics, Indoor Air Quality and sustainable building design.The main duties of the role include:

  • Delivering and managing a number of existing and new modules fluids across our programmes and campuses.
  • Developing and sustaining a high level of research within the scope of the Fluid Mechanics Group, making use of our facilities in the Bloomsbury Campus as well as CAVE in Dagenham, and using the research findings to inform teaching.
  • Carrying out administrative duties specified by the Head of Department and/or UCL/ Departmental policies and procedures.

The salary for this role is (£51,474 – £71,357). Salary on appointment is subject to experience.About youIn order to be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A PhD in Civil Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working on multi- and interdisciplinary engineering projects
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics relevant to Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated excellence in research, evidenced by a record of publications and/or research awards
