The Department hosts top-rated initial teacher education programmes, incorporating Secondary PGCE, innovative Masters programmes and a wide range of continuing professional development courses.About the roleThe Mathematics Education team within CPA contributes to a well-established and popular Master’s course in Mathematics Education, to a range of Initial Teacher Education routes, including Secondary PGCE and School Direct and the Secondary Mathematics Teacher Degree Apprenticeship (TDA). The Department also has a strong group of doctoral students.We are looking to appoint a Lecturer (Grade 8; £52,762 to £62,035 per annum, inclusive of £4,613 per annum London Allowance). The successful candidate will become part of the mathematics education team, commencing in September 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter). You are expected to engage in relevant teaching and supervision of student teachers, including teaching and supervision of master’s level academic assignments. You will be encouraged to collaborate and develop a productive connection across relevant areas of mathematics within the Department and with other Departments of the Institute. In addition, you will be at the forefront of national developments in learning and teaching methodologies in the classroom and contribute to research projects in mathematics education.We will consider appointing a suitably experienced candidate as Associate Professor (Grade 9, Salary: £67,341 – £73,142, inclusive of £4,613 per annum London Allowance). In addition to the above, the post requires that you can provide leadership within the department, including mentoring and line management.Employment is dependent on successful DBS check.If you would like to find out more about the post, or if you have any questions, please contact Professor Eirini Geraniou, e-mail: e.geraniou@ucl.ac.ukAbout youBoth roles require that you have a first degree or equivalent experience in an area relevant to mathematics education, a master’s degree in mathematics education or a related field, and higher degree in mathematics education or related field (either complete or nearing completion). You have a Qualified Teacher Status or the equivalent, and successful teaching experience relevant to school mathematics teaching in England. You will have experience of working effectively with student teachers, in-service teachers and/or school colleagues to support their professional development, alongside a working knowledge of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes relevant to England.
