Lecturer for Beniba Centre for Slavery Studies (R&T and LTS Tracks)

The at the University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint two new members of academic staff to complement and extend the expertise and activities of our sector-leading . Each post will be co-located both in the Beniba Centre and in any one of the College’s other and will contribute to teaching and/or research and external partnership in both areas and to developing interdisciplinary collaborations. These new, open-ended investment posts demonstrate our commitment to further strengthening and building long-term capacity in the Beniba Centre and in cognate fields (for example, in scholarship relating to race and ethnicity, black and indigenous studies, reparative justice and decolonial pedagogies).We are looking for candidates who will complement and enhance the work of the Beniba Centre for Slavery Studies and contribute to the success of any of our other Schools/subject areas. We are particularly interested in candidates with research and/or teaching expertise in the following scholarly fields: reparative justice; race; race and ethnicity; racism and anti-racism; Black and indigenous studies; colonisation and decolonisation; Global Majority studies; Black Studies; Caribbean Studies; the Portuguese-speaking African Diaspora, and Museum Studies. If you are unable to attend the webinar, please note that a recording will be available following the webinar, which can be accessed .Post 1: Lecturer for Beniba Centre for Slavery StudiesLearning, Teaching & Scholarship Track (LTS Track)Salary: Grade 7, £39,347 – £44,263 per annum.The successful candidate will teach and convene courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the College of Arts & Humanities including the Master’s programme in Reparative Justice (delivered jointly with the University of the West Indies); they will supervise PGT and PGR students; work alongside other academic and Professional Service colleagues to enhance the student experience; deliver new courses and programmes; pursue scholarship on pedagogy relevant to their discipline with the opportunity to develop leadership in this area and they will contribute to College and University initiatives to decolonise our curriculum and practices. They will undertake necessary administrative and service duties. They will work with others to initiate and sustain strategic external partnerships locally, nationally and internationally – including with HEI and non-HEI partners.Post 2: Lecturer for Beniba Centre for Slavery StudiesResearch & Teaching Track (R&T)Salary: Grade 8, £48,350 – £56,021 per annum..The successful candidate will undertake research of international excellence in any field relating to the work of the Beniba Centre for Slavery Studies and to any one of the College’s other Schools/subjects (and future REF UoAs.) They will pursue external funding (via UKRI awards, consultancy and other routes) and they will contribute to knowledge exchange and impact activities relevant to their field of enquiry. They will teach and convene courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the College of Arts & Humanities including the Master’s programme in Reparative Justice (delivered jointly with the University of the West Indies); they will supervise PGT and PGR students; work alongside other academic and Professional Service colleagues to enhance the student experience; deliver new courses and programmes and they will contribute to College and University initiatives to decolonise our curriculum and practices. They will undertake necessary administrative and service duties.
