The roleWe are seeking to make two academic appointments in Artificial Intelligence (AI). We especially welcome applicants with a strong track record in one of the following AI specialisms Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models, Distributed and Collective Artificial Intelligence, Reinforcement Learning and Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning or alternatively, from candidates innovating with AI in domains such as Medicine and Healthcare, Robotics and/or Autonomous Systems, or Computational Neuroscience. The University of Bristol has a longstanding research tradition in AI dating back over more than three decades and it has been chosen to host a new £200M national supercomputer research facility, focused on artificial intelligence (AI). The University of Bristol has an internationally leading research environment having been ranked fifth for research in the UK. Additionally, we are delighted to share that the University of Bristol was recently awarded ‘University of the Year’ at the inaugural , further highlighting our leadership in the field.Our future ambition for research excellence is underlined by our £500M investment in a new campus in the heart of Bristol.What will you be doing?Candidates will conduct high quality research using AI and regularly publish in internationally leading venues. They will apply for research funding from diverse sources and supervise post-doctoral researchers and PhD students. They will contribute to the delivery of high-quality education in AI at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertake academic leadership roles.You should apply ifYou should apply if your research work involves you studying AI (in particular in the topics listed above) or are conducting research in one the above application areas and are using AI as a key method in that work. You should also have experience in teaching AI (or a strong desire to do so for lecturer level).
