The University of Salford has a new opportunity for a Lecturer in Architecture to join us here at The in the Salford Laboratory of Architecture.The vacancy is for a full-time position, but we are open to fulfilling the requirement with two individuals on a part-time basis. Please state your preference clearly in your application form.Successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to develop innovative approaches to teaching design in our Architectural Design technology and Architecture programmes. We are seeking applications from practitioners and academics who bring expertise and experience in forward-thinking, research-led, design practices. Applications from individuals with an interest in digital technologies and design processes in architecture are strongly encouraged.Foresight and futures thinking is part of the unique heritage of the Salford Laboratory of Architecture, through the University’s origins as a Royal Technical Institute. Working as part of our team, there will be opportunities to develop links with practice and industry to develop research-led teaching and establish live student projects. Successful candidate(s) will be an integral part of pioneering innovative pedagogies across our programmes; engaging with the contemporary issues of space to deliver unique student experiences that maximise accessibility, enrich the profession and advance architectonic understanding and experimentation.Interviews will be held week commencing 7th October.Expertise and ExperienceWe are especially keen to hear from you if you have any of the following:
- PhD, ARB/RIBA Part 3 or equivalent
- Experience of teaching in Design Studio and Architectural Technologies (digitally infused design-research and practice, advanced fabrication techniques).
- FHEA Fellow, PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or commitment to achieve this within 2 years of appointment.
- Experience in architectural practice, or an equivalent portfolio of design research.
- Experience of initiating and leading the development and delivery of taught programmes, through innovative and engaging teaching delivery and learning support.
- Understanding of the changing professional context for architecture, potential avenues for future practice and experience of developing innovative learning experiences to support this.
