FTE: 1.0 FTE (37 working hours per week)Salary: UH7 £37,999 pa with potential to progress to £45,163 pa on achieving designated skills and experienceAnnual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year.Location: College Lane CampusThe department has an international reputation for teaching and research, with nearly 90 academic staff, divided into five academic subject groups. In addition, we support 150 adjunct staff, and 70 research students and postdoctoral research staff. With a history going back to 1965, the department supports one of the largest cohorts of students in the UK, including thriving online provision.Main duties and responsibilitiesThe Lecturer in Computer Science will contribute to teaching and learning assessment including delivering high quality teaching, learning and assessment to our students at all levels and will be expected to have sufficient experience to lead modules and develop teaching and assessment materials in the advertised areas.The appointee will be expected to lead modules, develop teaching and assessment materials. This will include marking of assessments, supervision and assessing project students. As a module leader you will be expected to attend module boards of examiners, and relevant programme committees.The Lecturer in computer science will also provide pastoral and academic support for home and international students. You will play an important role as part of a team incorporating the Head of Department or Subject Group Leader, programme leader, module leaders, the professional, administrative and technical staff (if applicable), the Dean of School and the Associate Deans of School and will also be expected to contribute to teaching in mainstream areas of Computer Science, and modules with particularly large groups of students.The appointee may have an opportunity to strengthen the research culture in the Department by pursuing research.Skills and ExperienceYou will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and have demonstrable experience and expertise in teaching/assessing at least two of the following areas at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels:
Whilst face to face teaching is expected, we encourage applications from those seeking flexible employment options.Prior experience of delivering modules and assessments for varying sized groups of students in a blended or online mode would be an asset.
