Lecturers in Computer ScienceThe Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath has vacancies for academic appointments across its four main research groups.Whichever group you join, your research interests may engage across the groups in the department: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Computing, and Mathematical Foundations of Computation.The AI & ML group includes experienced AI researchers such as Prof Nello Cristianini, Prof Özgür Simsek and Prof Mike Tipping alongside a strong and growing group of early career researchers.This supportive and inclusive environment provides many opportunities to develop and progress.The HCI group enjoys a rich legacy as one of the most accomplished HCI groups in the UK, with a strong technical HCI focus.With a track record of success spanning decades, we’ve consistently been at the forefront of shaping the future of how we interact with technology.The MathFound group is a leading centre for developing the mathematics of computer science, with a focus on lambda calculi and proof nets, denotational semantics, computer algebra and symbolic computation, and applied proof theory.The group is expanding and has already recruited several new members who will start during the 2024-25 academic year.The Visual Computing group is highly regarded internationally and very successful in research publication and grant capture. We focus on computer vision and computer graphics and cross over into machine learning, human-computer interaction and applications in entertainment and healthcare. You will work with colleagues, students and researchers to develop and publish papers. You will apply for research funding to support your ideas. You will find ways of making your research available to society, for example, by working with industry, developing spin outs, collaborating with charities, influencing policy makers or delivering talks and demonstrations to excite wider audiences.Teaching
You will design and deliver teaching materials for lectures, tutorials, and labs. You will be educating and inspiring some of the brightest students in the country, delivering an engaging experience and a exciting curriculum.Helping with the running of the department
You’ll have a few internal roles to help the Department run smoothly.
