Lecturer in Computer Vision for Environmental MonitoringDepartment: School of Mathematical Physical & Computational SciencesEmployment type: AR-Academic (Lecturer)Division: Computer ScienceHours Per Week: 1.00 FTEJob live date: 16/04/2024Employment Basis/Type: Full time, PermanentThe Department of Computer Science is seeking to appoint an outstanding Lecturer in Computer Vision for Environmental Monitoring to join the team at Reading as one of four new appointments to provide high quality teaching and research. Those appointed will have great opportunities for working with key strategic partners to further their research to emphasise the integration of computer vision principles with environmental science knowledge to develop innovation solutions for monitoring and managing environmental resources. We are excited for you to join us in a department that is pushing the boundaries of knowledge, encouraging innovation and helping to shape the future.Essential for this role is that you:

  • Have a PhD in computer science or a related field, and a strong reputation for rigorous international research in Computer Vision.
  • Have well-developed knowledge of the fundamentals of computer science as suitable for teaching across the curriculum at UG/PG level.
  • Have excellent research publications of international standing on Computer Vision.
  • Have a strong commitment to student support and the enhancement of the learning experience.
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively alongside a diverse range of colleagues.
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to your work and a readiness to lead and participate in teams. Have the ability to develop your own materials and approaches to teaching, and the skills to analyse students’ learning experiences.
