The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, who is an early career researcher with the potential to develop an international research profile, and will have experience of teaching in HE.

The School is in the Faculty of Business and Law (BaL) and  has a track record of sustained excellence in research. In REF2021, we ranked second among modern universities by research-power for Business-Management, with 65.8% of our research outputs adjudged to be world-leading/internationally-excellent, 100% of our impact rated as having very considerable/outstanding reach and significance, and 100% of our research environment seen as having the vitality and sustainability to produce internationally-excellent/world-leading research. Based on our REF2021 success, we are looking to further enhance our School’s research profile in the area of economics. 

The position holders will contribute towards these objectives by producing world-leading and internationally excellent publications, generating R&I income and impact, as well as working across all areas of the discipline. The position holders will also contribute significantly in the delivery of high quality and student-centred education across our taught (UG & PG) and PGR courses by teaching in a variety of formats, developing inspiring module materials, learning activities and innovative curriculum, supporting students with pastoral care and in developing employability skills, and participating in administrative/academic management tasks as required. The successful candidated will supervise both taught and research students and contribute fully to the life and work of the School/Faculty.

While we welcome strong applications in any field of Economics, Finance and Banking, preference will be given to candidates who have an applied focus and can contribute to one or more of:

(i) teaching in banking and finance,

(ii) teaching in Quantitative  methods inclusive of UG/PG statistics/econometrics and with the use of R/Python , and

(iii) our research expertise in the areas of Behavioural and Experimental Economics , Efficiency and Productivity , Resource Economics and Environmental Policy and/or Monetary Policy .
