The RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lecturer (Adult Field Registered Nurse) in Healthcare Education to join Aberystwyth University. As part of its civic mission, Aberystwyth University is seeking to find ways of supporting the workforce and community needs of Mid-Wales by increasing opportunities for individuals to train and work in healthcare in their local area. Jointly working with Local Health Boards and other key stakeholders, the aim is to design and deliver several professional health-related courses (at pre- and post-registration levels and Continuing Professional Development), for BSc degrees in pre-registration Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing- full time and part time, Return to Nursing Practice programme, Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare Studies, and implementation of the Registered Nurse Associate programmes.This vision comes at a timely point with the commencement of new Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) pathways and invitations to tender to all existing and potential new providers of healthcare education by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW). The very first cohort of nursing students commenced their studies in Aberystwyth in September 2022.The post holder will support the Principal Lead for Healthcare Education and scheme coordinators to design and deliver new provision in Level 4 programmes, Registered Nurse Associate programmes, pre-registration Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing degrees, Return to Practice programmes and CPD Modules, and teach clinical skills & simulation. Registered Adult field nurse with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council
2. Nursing degree
3. Masters degree in a relevant subject
4. HEA Fellowship
5. Teaching qualification/ PGCtHE
6. Evidence of continuous professional development
7. Current experience of teaching in a Higher Education Setting within healthcare programmes
8. Extensive clinical experience of working in a wide variety of settings as a Registered Nurse (Adult field)
9. Experience of teaching, supervising and assessing healthcare students in clinical and education setting
10. Clinical expertise in their field
11. Detailed knowledge of the new NMC standards for education
12. In depth understanding of the ‘Once for Wales’ 2020 curriculum and core documentation
13. In depth knowledge of differing approaches to teaching and learning in healthcare
14. Advanced communication skills
15. Excellent Presentation skills
16. Excellent Teaching and facilitation skills
17. Coaching skills
18. Must hold a UK current driving licence due to clinical visits (evidenced within application)
19. An ability to understand the bilingual nature of the University and an awareness of the procedures in place to support working bilingually.Desirable1. PhD or working towards
