College of Biomedical & Life SciencesThe School of Medicine at Cardiff University seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Infectious Disease Epidemiology / Infectious Disease Behavioural Science to join a newly established Translational Virology Unit that sits across the Centre for Trials Research, Division of Infection and Immunity, and Division of Cancer and Genetics. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual seeking to develop an independent research program contributing to basic and applied virology research, focussing primarily on applied public health infectious diseases, with experience of interdisciplinary research and methodological expertise within one or more of the following areas: epidemiology, clinical trials, behaviour change, qualitative research methods, and/or working with marginalised populations.The post holder will be expected to develop cross cutting collaborative links across relevant Cardiff University research themes, developing competitive research proposals and building research capacity to support Virology-related research – a key area of strength highlighted for support through this newly created Unit. The post holder will actively contribute towards the delivery of the aims and objectives highlighted in this document.The recruited individual will have the majority of their time protected for research, but for career development purposes we anticipate them contributing to the School through research led teaching – for example, leading student projects for undergraduates, MSc students and professional training year (PTY) students.The successful applicant will have a growing national/international academic reputation, an excellent record of high-quality publications, and the enthusiasm and drive to play a key role in enhancing the School’s reputation for impactful research and community engagement.
