This full-time post is available from April 2025 on a permanent basis.The roleThe post of Lecturer in Mining/Geoenvironmental Engineering will contribute to extending the research profile of CSM, particularly in areas related or complementary to mining engineering, engineering geology & geotechnics or mining environmental management.Main Duties

• To fulfil research, teaching and administration duties as a Lecturer in Mining/Geoenvironmental Engineering within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy;
• To extend the research profile of CSM and related areas, attracting and supervising postdoctorate researchers and postgraduate research students, contributing towards the winning of research incomes and undertaking elements of the day to day running of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
• To collaborate with colleagues both within the Faculty and the University of Exeter as a whole in order to develop and support mining & geoscience research and the Faculty’s research programme;
• To contribute to the general operation of the Faculty as a member of its academic team.

About youFor a Lecturer post you will have:

• A PhD or equivalent experience in mining engineering, engineering geology or geotechnics, mine environmental management or a related relevant subject
• A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
• An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
• Enthusiasm, knowledge, and ability to teach relevant modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level
• Strong connections and/or funded projects with business and community partners
• Involvement in projects which develop impact.
• An understanding of the importance of equality and diversity within an organisation and a commitment to helping create an inclusive culture

Camborne School of MinesThe post will be based in the Camborne School of Mines (CSM), a discipline within the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus in Cornwall. With over 135 years of providing high quality education and state-of-the-art research for the international mining industry, CSM is one of the world’s best known Mining Schools, and has recently expanded its teaching portfolio with the Degree Apprenticeship in Mine Management and a new undergraduate Mining Engineering programme starting in 2025.
