Offer DescriptionAbout UsThe Academic Department of Physiotherapy is situated in the (SLCPS) that is one of six Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites over 400 experts in women and children’s health, nutritional sciences, population health and the molecular genetics of human disease. Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease and healthcare as a continuum. We are interdisciplinary by nature and this innovative approach works: 91 per cent of our research submitted to the Subjects Allied to Medicine (Pharmacy, Nutritional Sciences and Women’s Health cluster) for REF was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We use this expertise to teach the next generation of health professionals and research scientists. The BSc Physiotherapy Programme is the highest ranked in London in the Guardian University League table 2024-25.The Department of Physiotherapy is based on the beautiful Guy’s campus near London Bridge station and Borough market.About the roleWe are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physiotherapy (Education & Research). This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and highly committed research and education team with a broad range of expertise in rehabilitation and health research at King’s and to establish yourself as a leader in research. The post holder will be based within the Academic Teaching Department of Physiotherapy and the Rehabilitation and Health research group. They will work with existing teams in the School and wider Faculty to enhance our research excellence at an international, national and local level. By contributing to and delivering internationally leading research and education, it is an exciting opportunity to develop the career of a talented academic.Through collaboration and drawing upon the academic expertise across the department, School and/or Faculty, the post-holder will be encouraged to develop and lead a strong, innovative and sustainable programme of research that not only supports their own work but also acts as a focus for other physiotherapists and allied health professionals wishing to pursue research or research training. As such, they will play a key role in mentoring and supporting other physiotherapists and allied health professionals to undertake research and/or PhDs.SLCPS has a large undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolio in physiotherapy, primary care, public health and global health and interprofessional links with other healthcare and bioscience programmes in the Faculty and university. The post-holder will contribute to two successful pre-registration physiotherapy programmes. They will make a significant contribution to the leadership, ongoing development and delivery of the curricula in physiotherapy to reflect contemporary research, evolving health and social care, global relevance and educational innovation. The post-holder will work with an interdisciplinary group of research active and innovative researchers and educators to promote interprofessional learning, student engagement and high-quality student support.This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria (Grade 6): * PhD in a relevant subject area or equivalent post-registration education and experience

  • Chartered Physiotherapist or other Allied Health Professional (UK HCPC or other national registration body and eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC)
  • Evidence of successful independent, high-quality research (or evidence of a trajectory towards this), including evidence of publications of high-quality, peer-reviewed papers
  • Evidence of sustaining research activity at an appropriate level for an early career including grant applications (may be collaborative grants as co-investigator)
  • Evidence of supervision of MSc students
  • Evidence of experience in the development and delivery of high-quality teaching including module organisation and curriculum development in higher education
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias

Essential criteria (Grade 7): * PhD in a relevant subject area

  • Chartered Physiotherapist or other Allied Health Professional (UK HCPC or other national registration body and eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC)
  • Evidence of successful independent, high-quality research, including evidence of publications of high-quality, peer-reviewed papers as first, last or corresponding author
  • Evidence of sustaining research activity at an appropriate level for an early career including securing research funding as a Co-Investigator and/or Principal Investigator
  • Evidence of supervision of PhD and MSc students
  • Evidence of experience in the development and delivery of high-quality teaching including module organisation and curriculum development in higher education
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias

Desirable criteria (both grades): * Higher education teaching qualification

  • Knowledge of the requirements of research funding bodies in the UK
  • Experience of education leadership in programme delivery and curriculum development
