Lecturer in Political Theory

Full-Time, Fixed Term (until 30 December 2024)

The Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy at Royal Holloway seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Political Theory. The successful applicant would be expected to start in January 2024.

About the Department. 

The Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy is part of the School of Law and Social Sciences. The Department of Politics, International Relations, and Philosophy is a research-intensive unit ranked second in the country by the Polijobs following the publication of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 results. The Department provides a full range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes to a student body that is majority Black and Global Majority. We carry out research across different sub-disciplines, but we place special emphasis on our research centres and clusters: the New Political Communication Unit, the Contemporary Political Theory Research Group, the Centre for International Security, the Democracy and Elections Centre, the Centre for Islamic and West Asian Studies, the Global Politics and Development Centre, the Centre for Continental Philosophy, the Centre for the Study and Application of Stoicism, and the (college-wide) Gender Institute.

About the role. 

This post is in part cover for an existing member of staff. The successful candidate will deliver convene and deliver modules in the International Relations curriculum. In particular, we are looking for someone to teach on the Department of Politics, International Relations, and Philosophy’s undergraduate Introduction to Political Theory and Contemporary Political Theory Modules, as well as race and/or gender in Political Theory.

The post is fixed-term for 12 months. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
