Together, we aim to undertake world-class, interdisciplinary social science research which is both academically renowned and policy-relevant. As our name suggests, our research revolves around the development and application of advanced quantitative methods to a wide range of social science issues, with the aim of having real-world engagement and impact. We also aim to design and deliver world-class undergraduate and postgraduate education in all aspects of quantitative social science.Information about QSS can be found here:About the roleWe are seeking a Lecturer in any quantitative social science discipline to contribute to teaching and research.
You will be expected to enhance our interdisciplinary research portfolio, with a focus on the application of quantitative social science research methods to real world problems. You will be expected to seek research funding from a range of sources, and to be able to generate demonstratable impact and engagement in their work. You will also be expected to lead modules on our BSc Social Sciences with Data Science or MSc Social Research Methods and may apply to co-lead these programmes in the future. The appointee will contribute to the life and functioning of the department more broadly.This post is available from 1 January 2025.Enquiries regarding the post should be sent to Dingeman WiertzAbout youYou will hold a PhD in any social science discipline, where advanced quantiative methods have been applied with evidence of a growing reputation for research in a social science discipline, including a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.Experience in the application of data science – such as machine learning or natural language processing – to social science problems is desirable.
