About the vacancy:The School of Computing and Creative Technologies is a rapidly expanding School offering high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which include Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering for Business, Cyber Security and Data Science.We also support a growing and successful body of research in human computer interactions, smart cities, artificial intelligence, cyber security, data science and unconventional computing. The school has 130 academic staff and over 2,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students.About you:Candidates will have either a PhD in Software Engineering (or a closely related discipline), or else equivalent professional experience. Alongside an understanding of professional practice and ethics within the broader Computer Science discipline, you should be able to demonstrate expertise in fundamental areas of software engineering, such as: programming; algorithms; data modelling and database development; systems analysis and design; project management; software testing; operating systems and mobile & web applications.The successful candidate will be able to adapt their teaching style to provide a supportive and inclusive learning experience for our students.You will be capable of high-quality research in a field of computer science leading to journal and conference publications, have a clear plan for your future research direction and an awareness of research funding opportunities.Where is this role based?This post is based at our lively campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.We are one of the largest providers of Higher Education in the South West with 38,000 students and 4,000 staff from right across the globe.
