The Department of Physics is seeking a highly motivated Grants Officer to join a dedicated professional team, based in the Clarendon Laboratory, Parks Road, Oxford.

The post is permanent but can also be offered as a secondment opportunity

The Grants Officer is a member of the Physics Grants team and will work with the Research Grants Manager to support academics in the post-award financial management of their research grant portfolios. This post is an invaluable support to Principal Investigators (PIs) and other grant holders to effectively manage the finances of research grants and to maximise benefit from their funding within the regulations of the University and the funding body. The post involves liaising with PIs, external sponsors, professional departmental colleagues and central University teams.

We are looking for candidates with a range of financial and computer skills (a sound working knowledge of Excel is essential); someone with the confidence and communication skills to liaise with a wide range of financial and non-financial staff in the department and the wider university. It is a demanding role, requiring the ability to manage a large number of projects concurrently, and would suit a self-directed individual with good organisational and planning skills who enjoys working proactively as part of a team to achieve agreed objectives.

Applicants should be educated to degree level or possess equivalent experience and have demonstrable experience of administration in a research environment, public sector environment or other large complex organization.

Experience of costing, planning and budgeting is desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to establish their next step in a career in Grants and Grants Management.
