About Us

We are an ambitious University: and we’re looking for ambitious people who can help us harness the power of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to tackle global challenges.

We know how crucial this field is in helping us realise the goal of our Strategy 2030 – to shape a fairer, brighter and carbon-neutral future. Which is why we’ve created a brand-new Centre of Excellence for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Modelling (DAIM) – and we’d love you to join us.

You’ll be educating the next generation of data scientists and artificial intelligence practitioners, responding to the increasing need in this field, and conducting high quality research which cuts across traditional disciplinary departmental and faculty boundaries.

About the post

We are recruiting a full-time, 3-year fixed term lecturer position to build our research and knowledge exchange strengths within DAIM, along with enhancing academic support and teaching provision for our students.

We are looking to recruit an outstanding individual with expertise in Artificial Intelligence or Data Science, coupled with specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Sports analytics/performance
  • Coaching science (e.g., psychology of human behaviour, biological maturation)
  • Human movement (e.g., biomechanics, physical activity)
  • Rehabilitation (including prehabilitation)

The post holder will be expected to undertake research and/or knowledge exchange activities within the fields of Data Science, Modelling, and/or Artificial Intelligence in areas including, but not limited to: modelling & numerical analysis, high performance computing, data science, machine learning, and computer science & visualisation. Expertise/experience in working with mobile application development frameworks would also be advantageous.

We are looking for a good degree, and a PhD or equivalent, as well as a demonstrable background through teaching, research, or career experience in at least one aspect of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, coupled with the specialist knowledge detailed above. All applicants should have Python Programming skills.
