Lecturer in Twentieth Century Latin American History

The appointment will enable the building of strategic research and teaching connections with our existing strengths in the history of the Global South. The new post will not only consolidate our global coverage in the department, but also strengthen our twentieth century expertise in a critical part of the world that allows the asking of key contemporary questions around economics, and related issues of gender, policy and development. We are a highly successful Department ranked 5th in REF 2021 (GPA 3.5) with a strong record of attracting external research funding. The successful applicant will be an outstanding researcher with experience of teaching and supervision, and will join a department with a thriving community of postdoctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate students. They will be expected to teach on our core modules on capitalism and contribute to other team taught economic history modules at UG and PGT levels.

Applications are sought from candidates who have research expertise in any aspect of twentieth century Latin American history, preferably researching issues of economics, gender, policy and development. Candidates with expertise in the area are encouraged to apply but we particularly welcome applications that map onto one or more of the following History research groups: Centre for Economic Cultures; Radical Approaches from the Global South; Race, Roots and Resistance; Histories of Humanitarianism; Politics, Institutions and Policy.
