The opportunity

 

We are seeking a Lecturer in our Department of Social Sciences, covering courses in international relations, the United Nations, US foreign policy, international social problems, and related content in Political Science, International Relations, and Sociology. You’ll report to the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education for this on site position at our campus in Manchester, NH. #LI-Onsite

 

As a Lecturer, you will teach classes supporting majors in Sociology and Politics & Global Affairs. You’ll need expertise in politics, international relations, and international affairs, with a commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials on topics related to politics, international relations, and international affairs.
  • Design and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and assignments, to reflect current events and academic developments.
  • Provide mentorship and support to students, including advising on academic and career-related matters.
  • Evaluate student performance through assessments, examinations, and graded assignments, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Participate in departmental activities, including meetings, committees, and academic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning within the department and across the institution.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • A Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more subfields related to international affairs, such as comparative politics, economic development, international political sociology, international security, diplomacy, political economy, foreign policy, or human rights.
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level, with a record of excellence in instruction and student mentorship.
  • Acommitment to teaching first-generation students and students from under-represented demographics in higher education;
  • Adesire to engage diverse audiences and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Acommitment to academic integrity, ethical conduct, and inclusivity in teaching and research.
  • Evidence of ongoing scholarly activity, including publications, conference presentations, or research projects.
  • 1+ years of experience with teaching methods, technology-enhanced learning, or interdisciplinary approaches is desirable.
