Flexible working will be actively consideredLecturer: Starting salary £48,039-£57,797, with potential progression to £70,000.Senior Lecturer: Starting salary £60,099-£69,505, with potential progression to £85,000.We invite applications for a permanent academic post in our Aerodynamics Group. The group operates diverse wind tunnels, from atmospheric boundary layer to hypersonic facilities, teaches on the MSc in Aerospace Dynamics, and conducts research in tilt-rotor aerodynamics, hypersonics, hydrogen fuel modeling, and novel aerodynamic design.About the RoleYou will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality teaching at postgraduate level in aerodynamics (experimental, theoretical or both) and world leading research in areas of interest relevant to future aerospace industry requirements. Our academics are supported and encouraged to build their research teams and wider networks through successful research funding applications. The role is challenging and involves planning, integrating and coordinating diverse responsibilities in research, consultancy, project management, teaching and research student supervision.About YouWe seek a qualified individual, encouraging applicants from aerospace, automotive, or related industries seeking greater research autonomy. Experience in high-impact, cross-disciplinary, and industry-relevant research is advantageous. Senior Lecturer candidates should demonstrate leadership in course management, business development, large funding bids, leading funded research, and managing industry-linked research networks.You will hold a doctorate in engineering, applied mathematics, or equivalent industry experience. A strong track record in Post-Doc R&D in Applied Aerodynamics (CFD, analytical, or experimental) and collaborative interdisciplinary work is essential, along with the ability to attract income and develop business opportunities.Strong communication and influencing skills, postgraduate teaching experience, and expertise in MATLAB/Simulink and computational fluid dynamics are highly desirable.About UsAerospace is at the heart of Cranfield’s global research airport and is renowned throughout the world for its teaching and research in the fields of aviation and aerospace.
