We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research in the Dundee Law School. Dundee Law School offers a wide range of core and optional modules, and we deliver degrees in both Scots and English Law.The successful candidate will be expected to deliver our core module in Equity and Trusts on our English and Dual Qualifying LLBs. They will also take a leading role in the development of our English private law curriculum, working across our LLB and taught LLM programmes and PhD supervision.Specialist expertise may come from across areas of private or commercial law. We would have particular interest in specialisms in banking and financial services, international taxation, fin tech, or the relationship between law and technology.In addition to teaching and administrative duties (including student recruitment) the successful candidate should have a clearly articulated research strategy, ideally aligning with School priorities, (including Just Transitions and Justice and Power), and will undertake excellent research with demonstrable impact. Pursuit of external grant funding and published research papers are essential along with a strategy for knowledge exchange. Applications are welcome from practitioners wishing to develop a career as an academic researcher.Your priorities will include:

  • Lead on the enhancement and development of our core and optional teaching in English private law; – grade 8
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate modules;
  • Contribute to research in Law, producing outputs at the highest level (REF 3* and 4*), publishing in high quality research journals and presenting work at international conferences;
  • Use of innovative teaching methods to deliver high quality and effective teaching at all levels to equip students with the skills, attributes and experience required for their future careers;

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • PhD in Law or a cognate discipline OR an equivalent professional qualification in Law and experience of practice at a high level;
  • Ability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals and attract research funding;
  • Ability to conduct individual or collaborative research projects and publish high quality internationally excellent publications;
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to the development of research strategies;
  • And at Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer):
  • Successful record of leading on the development of teaching and programmes,
  • An established research track record
  • Enhancement of research, mentoring colleagues.
