About us:The School of Applied Sciences runs undergraduate and postgraduate courses in food systems and the related disciplines of conservation and environmental science. This includes the MSc Sustainable Food Systems, BSc (Hons) Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science, BSc (Hons) Environmental Science, MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation and the in MRes Applied Sciences.About the vacancy:We have a vacancy to join the School of Applied Sciences as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Farming Systems. The post holder will support students on our food systems, environmental science and conservation programmes by contributing to teaching and learning, as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across the discipline. There may be an opportunity to lead the popular MSc Sustainable Food Systems programme, depending on experience. The post holder will also teach students on the final year undergraduate module, Sustainable Food Production. Occasionally, our lecturers will also be required to support teaching teams in other programmes within the School (e.g. Biological Sciences).This is a full-time permanent post offered as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer role, depending on experience. Preference will be given to applicants who can deliver teaching in agroecology. Experience and knowledge of food policy and/or food security would be an advantage, as would experience and knowledge of plant science.About you:Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in agroecology, sustainable agriculture, farming systems or a related field relevant to this post or, if from a professional practice background, a Master’s qualification together with significant professional practice experience. We are looking for candidates with a background and broad knowledge across food systems who can deliver teaching on the MSc Sustainable Food Systems and on our undergraduate food systems module as well as in environmental science/conservation science. They should have experience of teaching and assessment at an HEI. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching. Experience and knowledge of plant science would be advantageous.We are looking for candidates who align to the UWE values. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they will keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus.Further information:
