University of Bristol
The roleThe School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professor) in Semiconductor Electronic Devices. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive forward our ambitious programme in wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconductor power and RF electronic materials and devices to shape the direction of semiconductor research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.Your research will be integrated with the Centre for Device Thermography and Reliability (CDTR). The CDTR, boasting a team of 30 members and robust industry connections, spearheads the £11M Innovation and Knowledge Centre REWIRE project, aiming to innovate high voltage power electronics for net zero using GaN, AlGaN, Gallium Oxide, diamond and further wide/ultrawide bandgap semiconductors. It also leads various projects focused on the development of next-generation high-frequency RF semiconductor electronics for communications, funded by UK, US, Europe, and numerous industries. You will also be part of the Energy Management and Flow team which integrates academics from many disciplines covering power electronics to devices and drives to energy and flow. It educates across the school through team teaching, using innovative methods, and contains several prize-winning academics. What will you be doing? You will conduct internationally leading research in one or more of the fields of wide or ultrawide bandgap semiconductor power, RF materials, devices e.g. material growth, device design, device fabrication and/or testing, with a clear link to the ongoing research in the CDTR.There is the opportunity for close collaboration with other world-leading groups within the University. You will have access to world-class research laboratory including a Gallium Oxide MOCVD system, state-of-the-art clean room, and simulation as well as testing facilities, and will play a role in shaping their future. You will teach students across a range of programmes, with a particular responsibility for electronic devices, especially their practical application to engineering systems.
