This post is full-time and is offered on an open-ended basis.The School of Education invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education (Primary specialism) to contribute to and lead innovative, research-led teaching, with a particular focus on teacher education. This post would suit a qualified candidate with a focus in the preparation of primary and secondary teachers. It may also suit a dual primary or secondary qualified candidate whose background is in teacher education, teacher led research, or continuous professional learning and would predominantly be part of the teaching team in Initial Teacher Education, including our five-year Masters degree in Education with Primary Teaching Qualification and Postgraduate Diploma in Education.The successful candidate will make a substantial and positive contribution to the strategic direction of the School/College through leading and contributing to research of international standard, high quality teaching, securing research funding, and providing academic leadership and management within the School/College. They will build and sustain in relationships with external stakeholders that advance knowledge exchange, public understanding and outreach.The School is a large and dynamic unit which brings together researchers with expertise across all sectors of education: formal and non-formal, pre-school through to higher, adult and community education. The School aims to contribute to better places locally, nationally and globally, providing a major source of research-informed evidence that contributes to positive economic and societal impact. The key feature of its research is its commitment to placing educational research as part of an interdisciplinary agenda to support the development of more equitable societies in the spirit of social justice.The School is organised within four Research and Teaching Groups (RTGs): Culture, Literacies, Inclusion & Pedagogy (CLIP), Educational Leadership & Policy (ELP), Pedagogy, Praxis & Faith (PPF); and People, Place & Social Change (PPSC). The research of RTGs currently crosses five thematic areas: Migration and Refugee Education; Collaborative Schooling for Change; Ethics, Religion and Values in Education; Urban and Place-based learning; and Adult Learning and Youth Transitions.
