The University of Worcester (UW) has a reputation for its high quality and innovative provision in Education. As a ‘good’ provider of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) across all our provision, we are nationally recognised for our overall quality and high sustained employment rates of our trainee teachers.

Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) is a popular and well-established subject in the PGCE Secondary portfolio. In this context, the Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an inspirational and excellent Science specialist in the area of Chemistry or Physics with a strong commitment to developing a centre of excellence at the University.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Science Subject Lead to ensure an excellent trainee teacher experience. They will also have responsibility for leading, planning and delivering the DfE funded Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses for Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to the wider PGCE course development. They will contribute to the professional development programmes for trainees as well as practicing teachers.  To maintain our strong reputation for, and commitment to an excellent student experience, we are seeking someone who can model excellent practice in their teaching and inspire trainee teachers to achieve their full potential.

The successful applicant will show a clear commitment to practice-based research and should demonstrate some evidence of developing their profile in this particular aspect of academic work. We anticipate the successful applicant will actively engage in continuing their own professional and academic development, demonstrating their love of learning.
