The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity; Biomedical Engineering; Electronics & Nanoscale Engineering; Infrastructure & Environment; and Systems, Power & Energy. We have 172 academics and 176 post-doctoral researchers supported by 62 technicians and 33 professional services staff. We also have more than 500 research students working towards doctorates.Our School hosts fundamental research that is developed with the ambition to lead to industrial and academic impact. We expect the successful academic to complement and synergise with existing activities and to develop a network of collaborations locally (across the James Watt School of Engineering and the University) as well as to liaise with industry to translate their research to the highest impact.We are now seeking to fill academic positions for priority areas within the Autonomous Systems & Connectivity Division, and within the Aerospace teaching disciplines relating to Composites Engineering. [University of Glasgow – Schools – James Watt School of Engineering – Research – Autonomous Systems and Connectivity ].Research in composites can relate to future flight applications, manufacturing and/or net zero infrastructure e.g. wind turbines. Glasgow is at the leading edge of aerospace research and teaching, building on a 75 year legacy, and is the host of several national EPSRC research hubs that integrate leading edge research in composites engineering. Based within the ASC Division the appointee will also be responsible for building interdisciplinary collaborations across research active divisions in composites engineering, such as Systems Power and Energy, and Infrastructure & Environment.The candidate would be expected to contribute to the delivery and development of a range of courses within the degree programmes within the School. These could range from core fundamental courses taught to all/most degree disciplines within the School, to more specialist courses on the Aerospace degree programmes. In particular we have preference for candidates with interests and experience in the teaching of composites engineering within our Aero degree programmes. Experience in topics such as Composite Airframe Structures is highly desirable, with the ability to teach complex engineering calculations, structural engineering analysis, and FEA.
