About the role:The Department of Materials wishes to appoint up to four new colleagues to join its academic staff in strategic areas. This will be at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader depending upon experience.What you would be doing:You will be expected to plan, direct and undertake the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute and innovation in the area of Theory and Simulation of Materials. We welcome applications from experts in different simulation techniques and theoretical frameworks, with no prescription about the specific subfield, thus encompassing the whole spectrum of time- and length-scales relevant to materials, from atomistic to macroscale. While agnostic to the specific methods used, we are seeking a candidate whose research focus is materials and materials-related problems. The ideal candidate will also possess a proven, keen interest in collaborating with experimental groups and/or industry.What we are looking for:We invite applications from exceptional candidates with demonstrable expertise relevant to the posts, with complementary research interests to our existing activities. You should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in the physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline, as well as substantial, relevant postdoctoral experience. You will have (or have demonstrated a strong potential to develop) an international reputation, an outstanding publication record, evidence of securing research funding and an aptitude for inspiring undergraduate students.You will be expected to plan, direct and undertake the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute and innovation.
