We are home to specialists in Italian literature, film and culture. We offer BA degrees in Italian Studies with Film Studies and as a Double Degree with the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari, along with a number of combined language degrees, including a BA in Italian with other modern languages, Management, History of Art, Latin, and Philosophy. At postgraduate level we offer an MA in Language, Culture and History: Italian Studies, and doctoral training in several fields.About the roleThe post holder will contribute to teaching at undergraduate level and will teach approximately 320 contact hours of Italian language classes per academic year.They will prepare and deliver seminars in Italian language as allocated by the Programme Director of Italian and the Head of Department of SELCS.The post holder will be expected to participate in departmental events and contribute to the intellectual life of the department.Please see the job description for a full list of duties and responsibilities. This is a full-time role, with the total hours of work required equating to 1.0 full time equivalent per year.The successful candidate will be expected to take up the position on 1 September 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. If preferred, candidates may instead complete the section(s) in the Questionnaire that ask you to explain why you have applied for the role and the skills and experience you bring, with reference to the person specification and job description.Please do not upload any other documents at this stage of the recruitment process as they are not required and will not be considered.The application deadline for this role is 1 August 2024.About youThe post holder will have a Postgraduate qualification at master’s level within the area of Italian Language Teaching and/or Italian Linguistics and/or Italian Translation Studies.We are looking for someone with expert knowledge in the areas of Italian language teaching (including language-teaching methodologies) as well as complete fluency in Italian and English.The successful candidate will have knowledge of language assessment and competence standards in the UK and Europe, and experience teaching all levels of Italian language (CEFR) as well as university level Italian language teaching. They will have completed or nearly completed of a PhD within a relevant area of Italian Studies.

£51474 – 60521 per year
