About usThe UCL Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health (PCPH) is jointly headed by Professors Greta Rait and Kate Walters, and is part of the UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care (Director Professor Fiona Stevenson).The Department’s strategic aim is to deliver high-quality teaching in community-based primary care and public health and to undertake a programme of internationally competitive multi-disciplinary research addressing the management and prevention of disease in individuals and populations in areas which are of priority to the health of the public.The Department of PCPH works closely with UCL Medical School (Director Professor Faye Gishen), sharing its mission to deliver world-class education, research, and other scholarly activities within medical education that benefit patients and society, healthcare practice and practitioners and the healthcare education community nationally and internationally. UCL Medical School is currently ranked 6th in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2024).About the roleThe postholder will co-lead the development, coordination and delivery of early years (MBBS years 1&2) undergraduate primary care education within the UCL Research Department of Primary Care & Population Health (PCPH) and the MBBS programme at UCL.This includes the faculty development of undergraduate primary care staff and tutors involved in clinical placement delivery and other leadership of the infrastructure that supports NHS clinical placement activity:
- Leading the Year 1 and 2 Patient Pathway in Integrated and Community Care (PPICC) vertical module within the Clinical and Professional Practice (CPP) component of the UCL MBBS course. This includes planning, organization and delivery of campus-based and occasional online taught sessions, Visitor sessions, and community placements where students meet with NHS, public, and third sector community, social support, and primary care services.
- Leading and su pporting a range of Student Selected Components (SSC) in years one and two.
- Leading the PCPH Primary Care Medical Education Research Group.
- Leading the Primary Care Medical Education Expert by Experience Group.
