Permanent, full time,35 hours per week & permanent, part time,17.5 hours per weekAbout The RoleThe Academy of Music and Theatre Arts (AMATA) at Falmouth University’s Faculty of Screen, Technology, and Performance is seeking Lecturers in Music to join our Music team.Music at Falmouth comprises BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology, BA (Hons) Music, BA (Hons) Music Business, BA (Hons) Popular Music, BA (Hons) Sound Design and our courses seek to empower and produce artists, entrepreneurs, music and sound professionals who will shape the future of music and the creative industries. Our approach integrates creative practice with theoretical inquiry, ensuring students receive a rich, holistic education grounded in the latest developments across diverse fields within music and sound studies.AMATA staff and students work in a purpose-built performance and studio complex that operates as a professional venue, a research hub and production facility, attracting world-class artists, industry professionals, and hosting artist residencies and a year-round public programme.Lecturers actively contribute to Falmouth University’s interdisciplinary research centres: the Centre for Arts and Health, Centre for Blended Realities, Centre for Heritage, Culture and Society, and Centre for Pedagogy Futures. As a Lecturer in Music, you will have the opportunity to engage with these research areas, contributing to cutting-edge work taking place at AMATA and within the Faculty of Screen, Technology, and Performance, while cultivating a dynamic dialogue between your research and teaching.About YouYou are an experienced academic and practitioner with a strong research profile and an aptitude for teaching. You have a proven track record in music and sound disciplines, with the ability to bridge theory and practice in ways that inspire, challenge and upskills students.Your creative, innovative approach to teaching will empower students to critically engage with music and sound while developing future-facing skills and perspectives for their practice and the sector. You will hold a postgraduate degree in a relevant field and have experience teaching at undergraduate level. You are committed to research and scholarship in music and sound education, and have the ability to inspire students to push creative boundaries and ways of thinking at undergraduate level as well as, ideally, postgraduate level.We are looking for someone who:

• Is enthusiastic and passionate about their subject, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
• Demonstrates a clear commitment to scholarship, innovation, and research in music and sound education.
• Is experienced in the dynamic demands of higher education and able to contribute to new ways of teaching and learning.
• Is a team player, ready to collaborate with colleagues within AMATA and across the university.

Both roles require teaching and research expertise at HE level in one or more of the following areas: instrumental/vocal performance practice, instrumental composition, song writing, and music technology.The successful candidates will teach across our Music courses, supervise student projects and dissertations, contribute to assessment and marking, and engage with industry and community to enrich the student experience.There are two roles available: * Permanent, part time 17.5 hours per week
