The Role:

 

In this role, you will focus on supporting teams across Oxfam on employment queries and employment litigation in the UK and internationally.  You will advise both country programmes across the world and the HR team in the UK on complex employment law matters, offering advice that reflects Oxfam’s values and balances the various risks, and will advise on the law and positive action that Oxfam can use to further its Equality and Anti-Racist Strategies.

 

As a member of the Oxfam GB legal team, the postholder will also be required to provide commercially astute legal advice on range of legal matters related to employment as necessary to meet the priorities of Oxfam .

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

 

  • Legally qualified in UK
  • Experience of advising on complex and varying UK employment law and HR matters , including whistleblowing and data protection insofar as it relates to employment issues, and advising in relation to investigations
  • Experience of advising across jurisdictions on labour law/employment matters
  • Ability to support on colleagues internationally on employee relations processes, employment disputes and litigation
  • Experience of advising on the drafting of HR policies and procedures
  • Ability to identify key legal questions within complex queries and manage responses in accordance with legal team workload, level of legal risk identified and organisational priorities
  • Experience of producing guidance notes and training
  • Awareness of reputational issues
  • Ability to work equally in a detail-focused manner as well as big-picture oriented, so as to effectively prioritise workload and projects

The role may be suitable for part time or as a job share. This role is based in Oxford and will require attendance in the office at least once a week, and other days as required by business needs.
