Summary of the Project: The initiative aims to support access to income opportunities and foster the creation of decent work opportunities for the most vulnerable Syrian and Jordanian refugee population, particularly women, youth and people with disabilities, in the Governorates of Ibrid, Zarqa, Russeifah, Tafileh, al-Karak, Mafraq, Balqa, Jerash and Ajloun.

The Organization: The John Paul II Foundation, is a non-governmental organization active in Jordan since 2017 where it implements livelihood projects that promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and improved working conditions for the most vulnerable. FGPII operates in Mafraq, Madaba, Balqa, Jerash, Irbid and Ma’an where it has developed a partnership with women associations, fostering the empowerment and legitimization of women’s role in agricultural work and within the local community through home-based business (HBB) with supplementary income for families.

Position Summary: The Legal Experts will support the beneficiary associations guiding them in the process of HBB registration/microenterprise legalization on the food processing and cosmetics legalization process and supporting them throughout all the process.

Responsibilities and duties: The Legal Experts will have the following tasks:
● Follow up the consultancy provided by the legal support officer, guiding the CBOs in the process of HBB registration/microenterprise legalization and other legal support services
● Coordinate with the FGPII legal support officer in order to ensure a smooth accompaniment for the registration of HBB/IGA food processing and cosmetics businesses.
● Provide legal accompaniment for HBB/IGA food processing and cosmetics;
● Provide regular follow ups and feedbacks to the beneficiaries regarding their procedure of legalization
● Update the FJPII Value Chain expert regarding all the visits and meetings with the association sharing regular reports about the status of the procedures of legalizations.
● Ensure monthly field visits covering 5 governorates (Karak, Jerash, Irbid, Mafraq and Salt) in order to provide legal support;
● Organize two-day training sessions about the legalization process in each of the four zones involved (Karak, Jerash, Irbid, and Mafraq) for a total of 8 days.
● Develop training tools and materials;
● Travel between the four zones involved once a month in order to provide legal consultation;

Required Qualifications:
● Prior experience of at least 3 years in legal counseling or related field;
● A degree in law;
● Experience as a legal counselor or in a similar role within an NGO/INGO will be an asset;
● Excellent written and spoken knowledge of the English language;
● Knowledge of the administrative procedures of major donors (AICS, UN, EU);
● Driving license;
● Willingness and ability to travel regularly to all project areas.
