Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW:
IRC seeks a Legal Services Director to provide vision, strategy, and leadership to immigration legal services programs across IRC Maryland in Silver Spring and Baltimore. The Legal Services Director will ensure the delivery of high-quality and impactful immigration legal services programs through direct supervision of two immigration program managers, who oversee the provision of affirmative immigration services at each office, and one managing attorney, who oversees the Children’s Legal Services program across both offices. The Silver Spring and Baltimore immigration legal services programs are staffed by Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representatives and legal assistants and offer client support on naturalization, adjustment of status, refugee/asylee family reunification, family-based petitions, consular processing, employment authorization, and temporary protected status (TPS), among other services. Maryland’s Children’s Legal Services (CLS) team provides immigration legal services to unaccompanied children who have been released from the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and is staffed by a managing attorney, a senior staff attorney, two staff attorneys, two fellows, and two legal assistants. Relief for unaccompanied children includes filing for asylum, T Visas, U Visas, and special immigrant juvenile status, requiring the attorneys to appear in Maryland family court, immigration court, and before the USCIS asylum office.
The Legal Services Director will bring vision and creativity to ensure legal services programs expand in a sustainable manner. The position will report to the Executive Director and work in close collaboration with leaders and managers of other program areas, as well as with development and finance managers. The Legal Services Director will communicate regularly with a wide range of community partners and stakeholders as well as the Legal Services Technical Unit (TU) at IRC’s headquarters.
This role requires thoughtful management and leadership, legal strategy, resource acquisition and development, advocacy, supervision, and the promotion of an inclusive and equitable professional working environment.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Position Reports to: Executive Director, IRC Maryland
Position Directly Supervises: Two immigration program managers and one managing attorney.
Other internal relationships: Liaises with Deputy Director of IRC Maryland offices, program managers across disciplines, and works closely with the HQ Legal Services Unit.
