Pupils have pride in their work”.Details:The successful candidate will be required, under the leadership and guidance of the Curriculum Leader English to:

  • Ensure the Library is at the heart of school life and to play a central role in developing a culture of reading within the school.
  • Manage independent learning groups and individuals, giving guidance and advice to students and staff in order to provide an inspirational learning resource.
  • Working with students to make sure they get the appropriate reading book.
  • Take overall responsibility for the management of the Library, including internal fitting and stocking and ensuring the purchase, cataloguing, tagging and organisation of all resources appropriate to the learning needs of the students and staff.
  • Promote the development of reading and literacy skills for information and take a lead in creating an ethos and environment which encourages reading for pleasure.
  • Liaise with St Helens Library Service and other organisations to ensure that appropriate materials are obtained from inter-lending services and that full use is made of advisory services and in-service training.
  • To support students (one-to-one and small groups) to access learning and to develop literacy skills.
  • Be aware of and comply with school policies relating to child protection, health & safety, confidentiality and data protection
