Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Psychiatrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric conditions. The role requires expertise in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, and patient-centered care.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders using evidence-based approaches.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Provide psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, families, and groups as needed.
- Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric treatments through continued education and professional development.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry.
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Valid medical license to practice in Ontario.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques and psychopharmacology.
- Empathy and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to manage multiple patient cases effectively.
- Commitment to ethical medical practice and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in a psychiatry subspecialty (e.g., Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry).
- Experience working in hospital, clinic, or private practice settings.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
