Lindow Moss Community Projects Officer

Conserving, celebrating and promoting our heritage and green space assets.

We are looking for an exceptional Community Projects Officer to help protect and enhance the
landscape around Lindow Moss in Cheshire on behalf of the Lindow Moss Partnership. Working with
our Project Manager this role is key to realising the Partnership’s vision as detailed in our
“Lindow Moss – A landscape in Recovery Document which can be found here.

The document, produced in 2024, outlines what the Partnership aims to achieve over the next ten
years. We have secured funding for initial delivery from National Lottery Heritage Fund, UK
Shared Prosperity Fund and the Lowland Peat Water Discovery Pilot scheme which will determine
the delivery plan for the first two years. We will also work to support Transition Wilmslow’s
plans to celebrate 2024 as the 40th anniversary of the finding of Lindow Man, the local bog
body, now in the British Museum.

The programme will involve work delivered by Groundwork and by partner agencies including
Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Mersey Rivers Trust and Transition Wilmslow and coordination with
staff from local Universities.

If you would like an informal discussion about this post please contact
[email protected].

Based: Lindow Moss, Wilmslow, Cheshire with hybrid working from home or Groundwork offices

Work locations: Site based working across Lindow Moss Landscape, Wilmslow,
Cheshire. Travel to other Groundwork project locations across the North West as required.

Background

The Lindow Moss Landscape Partnership has developed a 10-year plan – the change they want to make – that outlines the actions it believes are needed in order to achieve its vision of a ‘landscape in recovery – for nature, for the climate and for our citizens.’

The plan includes 6 focused work streams:

  1. Cultural Heritage – To ensure that Lindow Moss is commonly recognised, celebrated and protected for its unique heritage.
  2. Nature Recovery – To encourage improved bio-diversity and ensure that all land types within Lindow Moss are experiencing nature recovery by 2035.
  3. Carbon – To realise the potential of Lindow Moss to capture and store carbon from the atmosphere.
  4. Wellbeing and the visitor economy – To harness the potential of Lindow to support the
health, wealth and happiness of our community.
  5. New Skills for a Greener economy – To use the development and delivery of our plan to
provide opportunities for people to develop skills within the nature and climate economy.
  6. To place communities in the lead – To ensure that local people continue to be involved in shaping and governing the direction of our work, and to create a welcoming, varied, rewarding
and powerful social action programme that appeals to a wide diversity of people.

Groundwork CLM is a founder member of this partnership and are working to help secure resources to take the vision forward. Please see the partnership’s prospectus.
