This is your opportunity to start an exciting career in livestock procurement at one of the UK’s leading meat producers.As a Livestock Buyer your role will be focused on procuring a set number of cattle and sheep required by the abattoir each week.To be successful in this role you will need to be an effective communicator who can build relationships with suppliers and negotiate the purchase of their livestock. Additionally, you’ll need to be driven, well organised and able to meet strict procurement quotas.To be considered for this position you must have commercial beef/sheep farming experience. Full training and support will be provided.The role:

  • Build and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers
  • Cattle grading
  • Negotiate purchase prices
  • Ensure consistent supply of cattle in line with procurement targets
  • Visit farms/suppliers
  • Ensure livestock deliveries are on schedule
  • 3 – 4 days per week working in the office
  • 1 – 2 days per week field based

About you:

  • Excellent understanding of beef/sheep production
  • Good communication skills
  • Organised and able to work under pressure
  • Target driven
  • UK driving licence
