We are looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Physician with an interest in Gastroenterology to join our team at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth.We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who will provide a high quality gastroenterology and endoscopic service and join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward thinking team.The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with all aspects of gastroenterology.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will:Provide a comprehensive gastroenterology serviceOffer acute inpatient assessment and treatmentDeliver outpatient clinics and procedures in accordance with the contractual requirements within the parameters of the Health Board’s objectives.And support the development and delivery of a sub-specialty service in hospital and in the community.About usHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
- MRCP or FRCS
- Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
Desirable
- Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
- On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due) within 6 months of interview date Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Broad based experience in Gastroenterology –
- Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
- Knowledge and participation in CPD
- Competence in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy
- Expertise in subspecialty
- Able to apply knowledge
- Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news
- Meet the requirement of the GMC’s Good Medical Practice.
Desirable
- Experience of NHS –
- Wider experience, research and training in providing subspecialty service
- Evidence of above average performance
- Additional clinical qualification(s)
Clinical Governance
