This post offers the successful applicants the opportunity to practise Benign Gynaecology at MFT.The initial job plan consists of 10 PAs. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team and develop our service. Previous experience at Consultant level is desirable but not essential. Great care has been taken to ensure that there is appropriate access to professional development opportunities.To maximise both the quality of care for women, and the professional development opportunities for consultants, it is expected that the successful candidate may need to work across more than one site, although job plans will be configured to minimise the need to travel between sites in the same day. A flexible approach will be required of the successful applicant to suit the evolving health care landscape in Manchester.Main duties of the jobA representative job plan summary is outlined below, subject to confirmation of weekly timetables. SMH Gynaecology Consultant job plans run on a 4 week cycle. Note that these apply to non-COVID arrangements due to COVID, temporary changes may be required. All job plans will be 10 programmed activities (PAs) initially, including 1.0 essential supporting PAs. Successful applicants will also be encouraged to contribute to additional roles within the service (e.g. educational supervisor, lead roles, governance responsibilities), based on appointment within the Division.The appointee will be provided with secretarial and IT support as well as office space, which will be shared.The job plan will be reviewed annually on a team basis, informed by the annual appraisal process via the personal development plan (PDP) following an Appraisal Meeting. The job plans will be a prospective agreement that sets out a consultant’s duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year and takes into consideration both service needs and consultant career development requirements.About usMFT is England’s largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.6bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. Qualifications and Training
Essential

  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • Registered on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible for relevant CCT or equivalent within 6 months of interview.

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (PhD, MD)

Experience
Essential

  • Experience in delivery of core gynaecological care and surgery( including laparoscopic surgery )
  • Experience in service development

Desirable

  • Clinical experience in ambulatory gynaecology or early pregnancy care
  • Experience in menopause care/ ATSM

Clinical Governance and Education

  • Experience of Audit relevant to Gynaecology
  • Evidence of active involvement in Clinical Governance
