Job description

We are seeking an accredited Gynaecological Oncologist to join the Gynaecological Oncologyteam as a Locum Consultant Gynecological Oncologist as soon as possible, with a mutually agreed start date for a fixed six-month period.The post will include an all-day operating list and 1:4 theatre list cover on two other days of the week and associated surgical clinics. It is expected that the post holder will operate independently with maximal surgical effort for women with advanced ovarain cancer and additionally be a skilled robotic gynaecology oncology surgeon. The appointee will form part of the on-call rota and will participate actively in the running of the busy gynaecological oncology in-patient and out-patient service.Main duties of the jobThe post will include an all-day operating list and 1:4 theatre list cover on two other days of the week and associated surgical clinics. Professional Qualifications and Registration
Essential

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • CCT or equivalent
  • Sub-specialty Accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of being admitted to GMC Specialist Register
  • Colposcopy registration with BSCCP

Desirable

  • PhD or other higher degree in relevant subject

Clinical Experience
Essential

  • Experience in Cancer Management
  • Experience and independent in ultra-radical surgery for advanced ovarian cancer and in robotic surgery
  • Evidence of working effectively in multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching
  • Experience of management

Language
Essential

  • Are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements

Research/publications
Essential

  • Knowledge of research methodology
  • Publications in peer review journals

Desirable

  • Participation in committee work, organising meetings, conferences, workshops

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team -Professional skill of a high standard
  • Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staff
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
  • Ability to manage staff and resources effectively -Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with GPs and other professionals in hospital and community
  • Ability to develop research projects and supervise trainees in their research
