The Directorate is seeking high quality locum consultant level candidates to be part of the Critical Care team at North Manchester General Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary site, as well as support the departmental ambition to become a centre of research excellence. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the team as a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. This exciting opportunity is the chance to work in one of the largest and most advanced Trusts in the country in a critical care unit with excellent standards and patient outcomes. We are looking for applicants to apply to provide critical care sessions at the North Manchester site and Oxford Road Campus.Applicants may apply for Critical Care with a background of ICM training with specialist registration with the GMC or expected within 6 months of commencement of post. Essential

• Fellowship or membership of the Royal College of Anaesthetists/ Physicians/Emergency Medicine or equivalent
• Fully registered medical practitioner with licence to practice on GMC Specialist Register or expectation for entry within 6 months of appointment to post

Desirable

• Additional post graduate degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent)

Training
Essential

• Eligible to be included on the GMC Specialist Register with a CCT in Intensive Care Medicine or apply for equivalent Certificate of Eligibility for CESR in Intensive Care Medicine within 6 months of interview

Desirable

• FRCM/EDIC/FRCA/MRCP Extended complementary skills (e.g. Echo, USS accreditation)

Professional Interests and Experience
Essential

• Experience of general critical care casemix
• Experience of tertiary management of complex critical care patients

Desirable

• Evidence of the use of audit in changing practice
• Knowledge of up to date literature

Management and Administration
Essential

• Ability to manage & lead a team.
• Some experience of departmental management

• Evidence of postgraduate management training
