Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Interventional Cardiology.This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department within Northwick Park Hospital, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals. Consultants are expected to work at all sites of the Trust delivering acute and elective care and to liaise with colleagues and GPs.London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest integrated care Trusts in the country bringing together hospital and community services across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Ealing. The department is working eventually towards providing 24/7 acute cardiac services and this new role will be an integral part to this provision.Main duties of the jobThe job plan incorporates 10 programmed activities, with dedicated 2 weekly sessions in Cath Lab in Northwick Park Hospital, Outpatient Clinics, dedicated time for ContinuousProfessional Development, as well as 1 in 10 Consultant of the week rota . The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate flexibility within their job plan which will be agreed upon appointment.The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical, Nursing, Admin, Operational and Cardiac Physiologists teams to provide emergency care and deliver elective activity against operational NHS England plan.About usLondon North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.We run major acute services at:

Essential

  • MRCP

Desirable

  • MD, PhD or equivalent

Registration
Essential

  • On GMC registered Medical Practitioner GMC specialist registration or within 6 months of CCT
  • Entry on Specialist Register in Cardiology

Knowledge & Expertise
Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in cardiology with evidence of achieving sub-speciality training.
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Broad based general professional training in general medicine
  • IT Skills and computer literacy

Desirable

  • NHS experience within the last 3 years

Teaching
Essential

  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff

Desirable

  • Training in medical education including work-based assessments, educational supervision and appraisal

Management and Audit
Essential

  • An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, initiatives and issues
  • An understanding of challenges to LNWH NHS Trust and strategic objectives

  • Experience in research and potential to develop and execute clinical research projects
